West Babylon JHS

Remote Instruction Plan

Remote Instruction Plan

Overview

In the event of short- or long-term school closures due to public health guidance, severe weather, or building emergencies, West Babylon Junior High School will pivot to a full remote instruction model.

All remote instruction aligns with New York State Learning Standards and district social-emotional learning priorities. To maintain consistency for students and families, student schedules remain the same whether instruction is in-person or remote, preventing synchronous class conflicts.

Communication & Notifications

Families and students will be notified of any transition to a remote learning day via:

  • ParentSquare notification

  • District Website posting

Instructional Format & Expectations

  • Learning Platform: Google Classroom is the standardized platform for all class information and updates.

  • Live Instruction: Synchronous learning takes place live via Google Meet during each scheduled period.

  • Meeting Links: Google Meet links are located directly within each teacher's Google Classroom page.

  • Lesson Structure: Each ~40-minute period includes live instruction, guided/independent work, and a lesson closing.

  • Camera Policy: Student cameras are expected to be ON for the duration of each Google Meet session.
